Hello!

This is the nineteenth issue of my newsletter and it is dedicated to Horace Silver.

I hope you’re all well. We’re well past the halfway point of 2026 (somehow!) and close to the last full month of summer. Personally, I’ll be glad for autumn as the temperature has been Too Damn High. Bring me the crunch of orange leaves!

How’s your head?

I found a new place to live. I have to move in pretty soon (start of next month) so I’m trying to get as much packed every day until then and obviously have to organise all the admin, movers, cleaners, etc. I’ll be sad to leave as I was starting to feel relaxed but I’m realising that nothing is permanent and you have to keep going lest you get told to stop being negative in a flowery way if you express any sadness 👍

Work sucks (I know) and I’ve been navigating a lot of crash outs and stuff around processes and feedback that isn’t entirely on me although I accept my responsibilities. Either way, I’m doing my best but it’s messing with my mental health which isn’t cool. I often wonder if I’ve cornered myself in this role and industry and whether a move would actually be a step up or a step sideways (I literally can’t afford to go down; I’ve got one kid to feed!) The thought of networking makes my skin crawl and I don’t want to jump into another agency since agency life has never been for me and with the proliferation of AI, it’s only gonna be worse as time goes on. Sigh.

Other than all of that, I’m still playing video games and working on some new music so watch this space!

What I’ve been watching

• Frasier, from the beginning. Currently on Season 5 and it’s been really nice seeing the series build and everyone’s hair and fashion change over this 5-year period (1993–1998).

• I watched the majority of the World Cup. Glad Argentina didn’t win but not happy that they got to the final. The third-place playoff was amazing and a great antidote for a lot of the shitty things that happened during the tournament. I wrote about my thoughts on Playrface.

What I’ve been playing

I’ve played and beaten a ton of games since the last newsletter but the standout titles are X-Men 2: Clone Wars, Final Fantasy XII, and some Mario Power Tennis. FFXII has been good although I’m not that far into it. Still getting used to the battle mechanics.

Something that interested me

clipart.studio is a magazine collage maker where you pick an old magazine from the Internet Archive, clip the pieces you want, and arrange them on the page. I haven’t tried it yet but it looks so cool and I can’t wait to give it a go.
