Issue 10: Prince

Welcome to the tenth issue of Everything Is Made Up.

Prince smilingGood morning/afternoon/evening to everyone. This is the tenth issue of my newsletter but for many of you, it's the first. If you missed issues 1-8, you can read them all here: https://lukealexdavis.substack.com/

I know it's been a while since I've sent one of these. I'm blaming the pandemic. This issue is dedicated to Prince because I didn't have access to my doc of names and I hadn't done Prince yet.

As always, I’m going to try and keep things short this time but if you have any suggestions for what you’d like to see more or less of, let me know! Okay, enough claptrap. Let’s get cracking.

For The Mind

Keanu Reeves takes the Colbert Questionert - Keanu is such a nice, caring dude. He answered Stephen Colbert’s 15-question “questionert” and revealed his “true soul” to everyone.

A word on the nonsense of blockchain and crypto assets - Anyone who knows me knows how much I hate blockchain, NFTs, cryptocurrency, and all that Web3 crap. So reading this piece by Stephen Diehl was a breath of fresh air, especially because it broke it all down and explained why blockchain and crypto assets are crap.

Michael Jordan To The Max - Great documentary from 2000 about the life and career of Michael Jordan. Narrated by Laurence Fishburne and featuring interviews with Phil Jackson, Bill Murray, and Bob Greene, author of Hang Time: Days And Dreams With Michael Jordan.

For The Ears

The Weeknd - Dawn FM: Really enjoyed the vibe on this one. Also a nice touch having Jim Carrey appear as a radio presenter and doing a cool bit of poetry reading at the end

CHANCE デラソウル - Seasides: I found this via Albums of the Year and thought the production and sampling was top class. If you like Daft Punk and The Avalanches, you'll enjoy this.

Bonobo - Fragments: Bonobo doesn't miss and Fragments continues his winning streak.

For The Eyes

What would you do if you were standing on a train platform with the track covered in snow and a train was approaching?

Well, I’m gonna make like boulder and roll. Thanks for reading and join me next time for more of the same. Any comments or suggestions, get in touch! And if you'd like to help out with my content creation endeavours, check out my Patreon.
