Common Bonds 3 Backerkit Launches Today!
Hiiiii, friends! You might remember my newsletter before last: I was accepted to an anthology that is very near and dear to my heart, Common Bonds 3: An Aromantic SFF Anthology! My story is “You, Me, and the Sea,” about an aroace fisherwoman named Masie and an aroallo siren named Marlowe, who she befriends because she’s the only one who can see through their predatory illusory magic. Come for the nonbinary siren menace that definitely eats humans with no remorse, stay for their platonic life bond with the one human they’d kill and die for. The Backerkit for that launched today, and the anthology is FULL of amazing stories from SO many incredible writers. Please support it if you’re able!

I am ALSO trying to shout into the void about my stories and writing journey, so check me out on TikTok at lucymasonwrites and Instagram at lucymasonwrites. ALSO: if you’re waiting on mail from me, I’m sorry! I work at a college and just survived the end of spring semester, graduation, and all the harrowing things that go along with that. Everything will be mailed out by the end of next week!
What’s In the Works:
Celebration WIP: a monthly serialized story about an aroace woman who throws non-traditional parties for life events outside of the allo and amato norm. Think: divorce parties, survived a harrowing semester parties, celebrating singlehood parties.
Wound Up: A queer small town Midwest romance about a high-strung asexual yarn shop owner working with his frustrating, flirty trans rival to pull off a yarn crawl and save his shop. Querying. Possibly looking into developmental edits if no bites.
At Loose Ends WIP: Another queer small town Midwest romance, this one sapphic and age-gap. In the planning stages.
What I’m Listening To: Noah Kahan’s new album. Obviously. That’s all I’ve listened to for a month solid. NOAH WHEN I CATCH YOU!!!
What I’m Reading: Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell. LOVE IT so far. Also, super top secret friendo projects that are making me kick my feet and giggle.
