🦀 May Scuttlebutt
Welcome, shipmates, to May's Scuttlebutt blog post roundup!
These emails are a short and sweet collection of everything I've published to my blog and Patreon in the past month. (If you'd rather just stick with my infrequent Bottleship essays, simply email me and let me know you’d like to opt out of Scuttlebutt. You’ll only receive Bottleships moving forward.)

Website
- A Blaze of Kindness "We learn by imitation: it's easy to say these things, but to see them in action, in much harder circumstances than we will ever face, is a far greater help. And to see them exemplified by real, flawed, complicated people like us is better still; they are not fairly-tale ideals, they are achievable. Real people achieved them."
- In the Dark "You cannot write a single line w/out a cosmology."
- Current Feelings (But Also Actually Past Feelings) "It's rare that I feel dreadful while I'm having my tea and scrawling pages into my journal outside in the sun first thing in the morning, so whatever's coming for me today will, at the very least, abate for a half hour tomorrow. This helps to remember."
Patreon
No posts on my own Patreon this month, but I did contribute four video interviews to Matt & Erika's first Patreon pledge drive for Oh Joy, Sex Toy! If you're not familiar with their work, they make incredible, educational, sex-positive comics, and Patreon helps them pay their substantial roster of guest artists a decent wage. I got to chat with Hien Pham, Jey Pawlik, Danielle Corsetto, and, of course, Erika and Matt.
Miscellany
Since I'm already here, I'll share a couple other quick-‘n-exciting news items:
- I'll be in Juneau, Alaska next week for Alaska Robotics Mini Con! This is my first public appearance since (gulp) 2019 and I am more than a little nervous. But also excited! Maybe I will see some of you there. I'll have travelogue minis and postcards and stickers and books and even some demon plushies.
- After a lot of hemming and hawing I finally hit go on a second printing of 100 Demon Dialogues! Ahhh! You can drop your email on this page to get first dibs on the new edition. Printing should take 4-6 weeks, after which we'll be at the mercy of shipping and customs, so no promises on timing, but it'll be in stock before the end of the summer for sure.
That's all for this installment! Thank you to those of you who have dropped sweet email notes in reply to the first few Scuttlebutt Digests. I'm always happy to remember that there's a lot of cool people on the other end of this internet tube.
Oceanic hugs to you all,
Lucy
