𝒫𝒪𝒞𝒦𝐸𝒯 𝑀𝒜𝐼𝐿: 𝐹𝐸𝐵𝑅𝒰𝒜𝑅𝒴 𝐼𝒮𝒮𝒰𝐸 ✎

✎Hi everyone, 

Happy February ^_^! Happy year of the Snake! 🐍 It’s been a cold winter here with lots of snow and we are super happy about it! We hope you’ve been staying warm!

We thought it’d be nice to start using our newsletter more frequently as social media becomes less and less welcoming to us. Community is so important to us and we want to try fostering it here, by giving you a few more updates and talk about our lives too!

Our biggest update is that We finished our BASKET Kickstarter campaign! We were able to raise $19,227 with help from 367 backers! We’re so, so grateful and excited to bring you this book. Marie and Paco have worked so hard and the final book looks soooo good. All 200 pages have been sent off to the printer and we’re expecting it to get to us by May or so, and after fulfilling our Kickstarter orders, they’ll be sold at shows and online! Definitely look forward to it <3

We also reprinted one of our favorite little zines we’ve published, Junk Drawer by Lizzy O’Donnell! It’s available on our website now if you want to check it out, and it’ll join us at our table at shows this year!

We’re also doing another print run of Death Bloom by Yasmeen Abedifard this month after being low on copies for a good while! Riso zines have been calling our names lately and we wanna make some more. 

We want to make some new prints and riso zines this year, so if that’s something you’re interested in, send some pitches over to our email at luckypocketpress@gmail.com ^_^ No risograph experience necessary!

We’re preparing for MoCCAfest in NYC coming this March, but since there aren’t any events till then, it’s going to be a quiet month. Instead we’re working really hard behind the scenes on a few veryyyyyyyy exciting new projects, one of which we hope we’ll reveal in the next month or two… 👁️ Please look forward to it!

This year’s January was pretty snowy and cold compared to previous years (yay! we like to play in snow). After working really hard on the Kickstarter, we celebrated by watching Sonic 3 together in theaters! Sara was yelling & crying in the theatre when they played Live and Learn in the finale. Steph was not a Sonic kid so Sara whispered the lore of Sonic Adventure 2 to them throughout the movie… It was pretty fun :-) We’ve also been drinking lots of tea as always and eating good food, especially for the new year: just yesterday Steph cooked a whole pompano fish & paired it with some really yummy Korean black tea (it tasted like sweet potato!). We’ve recently picked Kyudo back up again together after a long pause since moving, it’s fun to spend time together doing things that exert our bodies and minds outside of art ^_^. We’re enjoying and savoring the quiet nature of wintertime, knowing spring is coming as the days become just a little bit longer and brighter. We’re not ready yet! We’re wishing for a few more snow days still… We hope you enjoyed this little love letter in your mailbox! We're gonna try and do these monthly this year. Eating / Drinking:
Sara: Simmered vegetables to warm the body & soul… recently obsessed with salads. I can't stop eating massaged kale. Drinking bright & sweet red teas and aromatic light oolongs in recent days

Steph: A lot of whole fish dishes, snacking on pitted prunes and drinking Pu-erh. I’m currently craving tofu pudding…

Watching / Reading / Playing / Listening to:
Sara: After spending long hours editing Basket, I’ve become a basketball fan… been watching Slam Dunk & some college basketball lol. Also, I love Russian literature, and I’m almost done with War and Peace. I love it so much I don’t want it to end, even after a few thousand pages (-‿-")

Steph: Faye Wong and classical music (it fits so well with snowy weather). I’ve been playing Petz5(2002) with my partner, we have a pet calico and chihuahua named Lucky Charm & Lumpia!
