We have been asked by multiple parents to share this link to an open letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney concerning implementing a mandatory minimum age on social media sites, among other legislation. We know that this is an important issue for many families. The letter calls for:

• A minimum age of 16 for a social media access (i.e., a profile) 

• Mandatory age-appropriate design for all users under 18, including prevention of attention-harvesting features

• An assigned commissioner with robust enforcement mechanisms and authority
