Kettle Society Giving
Good afternoon, Nelson families!
It is the season for giving! The Nelson teachers, Admin, students, PAC volunteers, and parents are working together to help The Kettle Society provide unhoused folks in Vancouver with a hot holiday meal this December, and to give them warm clothes to survive the cold and rainy winter.
What can you do?
Starting this Wed Nov 26 and running until Mon Dec 8, we are asking students and their parents/guardians, (and if appropriate, their extended family, family friends and neighbours), for the any of the following:
1. Specific Non-Perishable Food Donations: boxed stuffing, canned cranberry sauce, packaged coffee creamer (e.g. CoffeeMate), large bags of white granulated sugar.
2. Specific Winter Clothing Donations: adult-sized winter gloves, toques, warm socks (acrylic or wool preferred); gently-used adult-sized winter coats.
3. Cash donations are greatly appreciated and can be made online using MunchaLunch, or handing in cash to the office for The Kettle Society holiday donations drive.
Students will be decorating donation boxes in each pod, making posters for the front door and foyer, and some classes may make general ‘happy holiday’ cards that The Kettle Society can hand out. Items can be placed in the pod donation boxes provided.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work alongside our students to spread kindness to others less fortunate, while making a real and positive impact on someone’s quality of life.
Please do not feel pressured to donate if it doesn’t work for your family – it is 100% optional.
Thank you, and have a great day!
