[Tech pitches] How big is Google+
[Tech pitches] How big is Google+
Dear Subscriber, thanks to everyone for helping on the smartphone story. You should have received a copy on my other mailing list; if you didn't, and would like to receive further mailings, let me know.
The experiment worked well -- perhaps a little too well. Quite a lot couldn't be used directly in the story, partly because your contributions and our own reporting yielded so much, and partly because as we reported and learned more, the story idea changed somewhat. My apologies to those of you who were discouraged by not seeing your material in the story. I'd like to apologise, but also point out that the nature of our reporting and data gathering means that will likely be the case in future. I can assure you that all the material is read, and I'm trying to figure out an efficient way to come back and pose followup questions if the story reporting requires it.
So, here's experiment number two. If you're still game, I'd like to explore Google's social network Google+ is. This should be easy but isn't. There are reports out there which claim to be measuring its popularity vis a vis Facebook, Twitter et al, but I'd like to explore whether it's popular to find other ways of confirming that. I'd also like to know if possible how it stacks up vs Asian social networks.
Perhaps you can help if you have
traffic data which would compare Google+, Facebook, Twitter and other social networks
ideas where I could find such things
mobile traffic data on apps (Google+ vs Facebook vs Twitter etc)
anything else that could help.
At this point the question is a basic one: how can Google+'s popularity relative to other social services be measured?
If you think you can help I'd love to hear from you.
Best, Jeremy
