[Tech pitches] An introduction
[Tech pitches] An introduction
Dear \*|FNAME|\*, apologies for a somewhat impersonal email. This is an experiment on my part to see whether I can replicate some of the elements of ProfNet and other services in the US and Europe for, initially, my own benefit. The idea is simply to invite pitches/analysts from organisations or companies you represent or work for should you think they would be in a position to offer insight. I am hoping it would work like this:
- I send out an email saying what I'm working on and any deadline
- If you think you can help with an angle, an analyst or insight that is __directly relevant __to the story idea I'm working on, you drop me a note with as much detail, data and context as possible to give me an idea of what you might be able to deliver. (If you don't think you can help, no need to respond or do anything.)
- I'll get back to you if it sounds of interest.
The idea is not to create extra work for anyone. Feel free to ignore emails if you don't think you can help, or if you can only offer something that's not directly related to my story idea. Likewise, if I don't reply to a pitch then it can be assumed I'm not interested or already have enough stuff.
This is very much an experiment. It might not work, and I won't be offended if you opt out at any point, including after reading this. I'll keep the emails to a minimum, and the mailing list is set up so there won't be lots of chatter beyond the initial call for pitches.
If you've got any suggestions about how to improve it, who else should be on, or whether there's something better than this in Asia that's already out there, I'm all ears. I'd prefer, however, you go through me rather than forward this outside your organisation. I've purposely kept the restriction limited so as not to lead to irrelevant pitches along the lines of "I can't help on this story but would you be interested in this entirely unrelated story?".
I hope to send the first pitch out in a few days, so if you've not unsubscribed by then, I'll assume you're game for the experiment!
Best, Jeremy
