reuters query: semiconductors
Hi, Subscriber, this is one of those limited circulation requests; we're on the lookout for some quick commentary on the semiconductor industry consolidation. Hoping to speak to some analysts or experts in the industry today who could help us on the following:
- whether deal making has reached some unsustainable level or they expect to see some more,
- whether china can become a real disruptive force as they wish, and what might be blocking it
- what is driving consolidation -- beyond the obvious. We've looked at IoT, margins and scale, but might there be other factors? are these mergers making less sense as everyone panics and just eats or be eaten?
- what are the likely next steps? who is likely to buy who? - are less obvious things now driving things? has the game changed a bit with the move to IoT etc?
- how important is TSMC in all this?
- What does China have to do next to finish its long project of building itself into a semi giant? What bits are missing?
- who is going to be left out in the cold/standing when the music stops?
If it's in your bailiwick would welcome a quick response.
