[reuters query] chinese android app security
html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"
Hi, Subscriber, this is an email to the limited list; no need to answer if it's not in your bailliwick.
I'm looking for security researchers and professionals in the industry who might have looked, or be able to comment on the privacy and security issues relating to Chinese social media and other apps such as WeChat and NQ. I'm trying to find more research to add to those I have already and some sense about whether they're correct in asserting that apps take greater liberties with Android user permissions and/or in other ways insecure (for example a security app actually introducing insecurities or transmitting user information back to servers in China.)
I'm looking for a relatively quick turnaround on this: if you have anything you can offer it'd be great to hear from you today.
As ever, unsubscribe details below. And thanks.
