[reuters query] avago

html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"

Hi, Subscriber, a quick request to the list, for a piece I'd like to write about the Avago/Broadcom deal. I'm looking for insightful, big-picture, contrarian, this-is-what-it's-really-all-about stuff, standing well back to see what deeper trends it reflects. (I've reached out to some of you directly, apologies for the duplication.)

Is this about chips getting smaller, getting more modules on board? Is it simply about cost? We've been looking at consolidation in the industry but this seems to challenge Intel and Qualcomm as much as it does smaller players, no?

In short, is there a deeper, more interesting story lurking in here?

If you think you can help, drop me a quick line and we can follow up. If it's not your domain, feel free to ignore.

Best, Jeremy
