New blog post from Lola
Hey everyone,
If you’re subscribed to this it’s because you wanted a quick ping whenever I wrote something new on my blog. Well I did. Here it is:
https://lolasantos.xyz/blog/heart.htmlIt’s about getting baptized, and also Bosch, Ramadan, Ezekiel, and the darkness of the world. I know I usually write about the American West but there’s kind of a lot happening these days (is anyone looking into this?) and I’ve been in a more cerebral/spiritual/emo headspace, whatever you want to call it.
Also here’s some stuff I’ve enjoyed lately:
rediscovering FIDLAR’s “Shrooms”: Oh won’t you take me to the river, I want to play in distant waters.
“Goth: A History” by The Cure’s Lol Tolhurt. It’s a really terribly written book but it’s great if you love all the bands from that era and want to go “omg i love that band!” every few pages.
PEASANT, a new zine from Weird Walk that I found at a local bookstore.
“Medieval Modern” by Alexander Nagel, about how medieval art is still relevant to our understanding of modern art.
And, relatedly, a medieval art history course from Medievalists.net. What can I say? I love the Middle Ages (in a normal way).
Alright have a good one xx
