Summer programme for Hybrid Local History Group at Southwark Pensioners' Centre from 13th May to 8th July at 2pm or as stated
Southwark Pensioners' Centre Local History Group
Dear Members, We will resume our Hybrid Local History Group on Tuesday 13th May when: Judy Aitken, Curator, Southwark Libraries and Heritage Team will show us: Southwark’s Collection of Textiles (Highlights will include military uniform from Surrey Regiment, pearly costumes and wonderful shoes.) We will meet with Judy at her new base in Peckham Library, SE15 5EB. We will leave the Pensioners’ Centre at 2pm to arrive at Peckham Library for 2.30pm.
Subsequent meetings will be:
27th May “An Update on Southwark’s Archaeology” - Chris Constable, Southwark Borough Archaeologist
10th June “Southwark and the Pool of London” - Michael Gilbert, Local Historian and Graphic Designer
24th June “Lambeth Luminaries” a Guided Walk - Keith Turpin, Camden Tour Guide Association Guide and Walk Leader. We will leave the Pensioners’ Centre at 2pm and meet Keith at the Elephant and Castle at 2.30pm.
8th July “Guided Tour of Norwood Cemetery”(Highlights will include the tomb of Sir Henry Doulton, and the graves of several Victorian. artists and sculptors.) - Dr Jane Jordan, Trustee of the Friends of West Norwood Cemetery & Lambeth Tour Guide.
The Zoom link will be circulated before each meeting at Southwark Pensioners’ Centre.
