Bad news on the SCD front this week as GSA have pushed back the completion date AGAIN. It’s very frustrating, and we alongisde Artefact, Birmingham Bike Foundry and all the residents awaiting their new home are just really saddened by the way GSA have handled this whole situation. The treading water continues for another few weeks..

Thankfully thanks to Steamhouse Bakery and Deadbeat/Anosh you can continue to buy bread, sweet buns and lunches from us at Deadbeat - until further notice!

We will also be popping up at The Shed in Cotteridge park TOMROROW 31st May between 11:30am - 3pm as well as the following times at Deadbeat/Breadbeat alongside Anosh _{^{(@ 1473-1475 Pershore Road, Birmingham B30 2NT):}}

Thank you for your patience and support in the last months

It’s been a turbulent few months for Loaf, and we wanted to share an update on where things stand at the moment.

As many of you know, we left our previous home in February after giving our six months notice on our lease in preparation for moving into our new space at the Stirchley Co-operative Development - a project we’ve been part of shaping for over a decade alongside local residents and fellow co-ops.

We have had another brill week alongside Anosh Speciality Coffee at Deadbeat (1473-1475 Pershore Road) and are happy to be able to announce that we will be joining Birmingham Artisan Markets in Bournville on Sunday 17th May from 11-3pm! Please say hi!

Update and call for support and leads for Stirchley Co-operative Development

We have had a brilliant first couple of days alongside Anosh Speciality Coffee  at Deadbeat (1473-1475 Pershore Road). If you haven’t popped down yet for a delicious speciality coffee and a cinnamon bun then what are you waiting for?!

Progress at the SCD seems to be going in the right direction and we still have everything crossed that we’re still set for a June opening. You will be the first to know if anything changes! Thanks for the 1328236th time for continuing to support us via our Crowdfunder and visiting us at pop-ups! 🫶 🫶 🫶

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us at our various pop-ups. We are pleased to announce that our next (and hopefully final) pop up location will be alongide Anosh Speciality Coffee  just across the road from Verbena at 1475 Pershore Road (aka Deadbeat after 5pm!). We will be serving the usual freshly baked sourdough, focaccia, cinnamon and cardamom buns and other goodies.

Lunches are TBC this week just as we suss out what’s doable in this new space.

Unfortunately we’ve had even more devestating news in that the completion date for the SCD site has been pushed back until towards the end of May. We’re obviously gutted as this creates even more uncertaintly for us financially as the goal post is moved back yet again.

We are forever indebted to Chloe from Verbena for letting us use her space since the start of March, however she is selling the building and so next week will be the last week we’ll be selling from there. We are now on the hunt for somewhere new to sell out of throughout May, as the agonising wait for a firm completion date continues - any suggestions drop us a message!

Thanks to everyone for coming to see us at Verbena and the market in Kings Heath last week! It’s so good to still be able to do what we love doing while waiting for our new space to be (finally) ready.

In the meantime we will be this week again at Verbena Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12-3 (1474 Pershore Road, Birmingham B30 2NT).

And we are now able to announce that we will join two more Birmingham Artisan Markets this weekend! Hot cross bun time is definitely over, so let’s see what other surprises the bakers will bring along on their way from Reddich.

Boy have we missed you all! It’s only been 3 weeks since we closed the doors for the final time at 1421 Pershore Road but it feels like a lifetime!

Our situation is much the same; we’re still waiting on the green light from SCD and a date that we can (finally) move in. This means we are trying to cut our costs as much as possible to ensure that we can survive this period of closure that might go on longer than expected.

Apologies for the error. Hope to see you then for our last day in this building!! Normal opening hours will take place between now and then.
