Little Thoughts About...April 2026 Reads
Slow reading for me in April, just couldn’t focus too much to read, and it’s kind of spilling over into May. But I’m powering through and reading because of obligations.

Rules of Contact (Play by Play #12) by Jaci Burton - 3.5 Stars
One of my goals for 2026 was to finish reading series I had abandoned years ago and this was one. Basic sports romance, where the romance was front and center and the sport (football) took a back seat. Would have only been 3 stars but I liked seeing my name as the FMC after a childhood of not seeing my name in/on things.
Stolen in Death (In Death #62) by J.D. Robb - 5 Stars
Another great installment in this series and as always I love the world building and character growth. I didn’t know where this investigation was going at first but then was like duh you should have figured that out earlier.
The Other Side of Mictlān by M.M. Olivas read by Wil Wheaton - 3 Stars
Three estranged brothers travel through Mictlān, the Aztec underworld, in search of their mother. It’s a reflection on life and our journeys. A nice little twist at the end when they reach their mother.
First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston - 3 Stars
This was our book club selection for April. It was okay, just felt like it was a bit all over the place but I liked how it ended. As a group we decided that most of us would have liked it more had we read it a few years ago and it felt like a cozy thriller compared to our new group favorite S.A. Cosby’s works.
Brigands & Breadknives (Legends & Lattes #3) - 4.5 Stars
I’m really enjoying this series and while I wish we had spent more time with Viv and the coffee shop, it was a great adventure. I was laughing out loud at times while reading this as Fern is just a delight in her unique phrases like - feculent sack of shit weasels.
