LIFESTYLE Newsletter Vol. 3 No. 3

Nick's LIFESTYLE Newsletter

A very topical Tingler for these HARD times

THIS IS AN INTRODUCTION

Hello again everyone. It's been a few weeks. An interesting few weeks. We were sick (not with COVID). We are better. We are safe.

  • This cat is living its best life.
  • Touring bands are making due the best they can. (In related news, I bought tickets to their rescheduled show at the Fine Line in March 2021.
  • Fender is giving a free 3 month subscription to Fender Play. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE TO NOT LEARN THINGS YOU WANT TO LEARN NOW.

THIS IS THE END OF THE INTRODUCTION.

2 THINGS THIS WEEK:

ITEM THE FIRST:

LOCAL SUPPORT. It goes without saying, but these are going to be rough economic times. Make sure to support local business as much as you can. SUPPORT FRIENDS OF THE LIFESTYLE.

  • Join AWARD WINNING AUTHOR Mindy Mejia's live stream book launch - https://www.crowdcast.io/e/strike-me-down-elaunch/register AND BUY HER BOOK.
  • Buy a gift card from Tower Games. https://towergamesmn.square.site/
  • You can also buy some games from Fight in a Box from Tower. I recommend Hedgehog Hop.
  • Order food from your favorite local restaurant (if they are still open).

ITEM THE SECOND:

EVERYBODY GOTTA DIE SOMETIME, RED. In an update from last volume's theme of MY BODY IS TURNING AGAINST ME (Vol. 2 No. 4), I have finally gotten my test results back and wanted to overshare the results with you. In summary, I am at an extremely elevated risk of a fatal heart attack prior to age 60. Obviously, nothing is certain, but I am in the 95th percentile on some numbers. I have a deadly combination of things in my blood that are conspiring to kill me. There are some blood proteins that are mostly genetic that I am extremely high in. That, combined with the shape of my cholesterol make it a killer combo. I can control some of it through diet and supplement (particularly the shape of my cholesterol), but at most that will impact about 10-15% of the number. Not really enough to do too much.

What I can and am doing:

  • Exercise
  • Eat a very regimented diet full of the "rainbow of vegetable colors" as my nutritionist put it
  • Green tea and chocolate on the daily (this is the best part)
  • 1 tsp. of high powered fish oil every night (this is not the best part)
  • Huge reduction in certain oils (including my BELOVED SOYLENT)
  • Smoothie full of antioxidant fruits on the daily

Knowing this is not a certainty, but is a probability gives me a very slight insight on life. I BOUGHT A FORD MUSTANG. No, I didn't. I'm really not changing much outside of my food habit, you know how much crap I used to eat </s>.

I have long given up on dreams or hope and am doubling down on enduring. I think this may be misinterpreted by some readers, so fear not. THE SHOW WILL GO ON. I just need to focus on taking care of the people that I care about that will be around after me. THAT IS PROBABLY YOU. Anyway, if you see me having a heart attack, remember these 2 important steps:

  1. DO NOT RESUSCITATE
  2. DROP ME OFF AT WORK OUTSIDE THE WESCOTT ENTRANCE (less camera coverage there)

THE HOPE SPOT: Elon Musk is an asshat. I want to like him because he is brillant, but I find most briallant people are hard to root for and are more a figurehead of having a great team around them, like Steve Jobs. ANYWAY - his solar battery farm installed in Australia is performing amazingly. It is saving a ton of money and is providing clean energy to a large number of households. I've been waiting most of my adult life to see something like this that would help us reduce our dependence on fossil fuels AND shitty foreign countries, you know like a PATRIOT WOULD. Pretty cool shit and it is only going to get better.

THE HOPE SPOT(1): Also, as a PATRIOT that champions INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM, I was happy to see the majority of the population and a majority position actually won something. I don't think my keyboard can type GO UTAH! </s> with out the </s>....GO UTAH! </s> nope, it cannot, but it was good to read that women ACROSS THE AISLES called out this bullshit and stopped a mandatory ultrasound bill from passing in Utah. I'm really getting the point of supporting a mandatory female leadership bill to stop this stupid shit from being considered. Old white dudes, it is done. Just get elevated Lipoprotein(a) levels and die already. You had a good run, but time to pass the torch.

GRATITUDES:

If you know me, you probably know 1 of 2 things about me. I wear clothes and I LOVE PITBULL. In honor of probably both of these things, my wife made me this amazing digital valentine. Make sure whatever you are viewing this in supports animation in your gifs, because this is incredible. ALSO it is a hard G, if you believe otherwise YOU ARE WRONG. (You can click on the image if it does not animate).

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR (please mark "ok to print"): None this time.

FAVORITE THING TO GO IN MY EARHOLES THIS WEEK: 2 albums:

Four Tet - Sixteen Oceans

Caribou - Suddenly

I'm still processing these albums, so I'm not quite sure where they sit on the album of the year chart, but both are strong contenders and both are enjoyed best as a full album. YOU HAVE TIME. Just sit an enjoy an album. LIKE YOU USED TO DO.

WE ARE ALL MARCHING TOWARDS DEATH.

SOME ARE OVER ACHIEVERS AND WILL GET THERE SOONER.

THE ONLY WAY TO WIN IS TO NOT PLAY.

THAT IS ALL.
