Liberation - LaserCube Wifi, Timelines and Timecode
Warm greetings to my fellow laserists, and happy 2025!
And it is sure looking to be a big year for the next-gen laser software Liberation, available for Mac and Windows.
An official launch is on its way but why wait? Join the early access programme now and become a member of the Liberation Foundation, a thriving community of active users and supporters.
New feature - LaserCube Wifi support!
The newest release supports the LaserCube network protocol; you can now control both USB and Wifi LaserCubes directly from Liberation. (In fact, 4 x LaserCube Ultras were used on the Nik Kershaw shows)
New feature - Timeline and timecode
The timeline has been completely reworked and it’s easy and fast to put your shows together. It supports LTC/SMPTE timecode via any sound interface on your computer - no special hardware is required.
Auto play dependent on timecode
You can also build up a full setlist of timelines, and each one activates automatically when its corresponding timecode is reached.
Live sync timeline
If you're working on a show that is not to timecode, you can live-sync your pre-recorded timeline while the band is playing, using tap tempo and nudge tempo. (This got a thorough testing on my recent shows for Nik Kershaw)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this in any other event technology, and is only possible because of the tempo-based timing system at the heart of Liberation.
Shows
Liberation supporter Stonewolf Studios ran timecode shows nightly at Enlighten at Fredrik Meijer Gardens and Illumination at Morton Arboretum (both in Chicago) across the festive period, and I designed another timecode show for Europe’s biggest scream park which ran flawlessly every 30 minutes for a full month.
