New in Lex: build your writing muscle, with focused sessions
Hey! Nathan here, founder of Lex.
A few quick updates for you this week:
1. Build your writing muscle
Writing is kind of like working out: it’s hard, but makes you healthier and stronger mentally. (That’s why we think of AI as a tool in every writer’s toolkit, rather than a replacement for writing. Writing is thinking.)
Lots of people stay motivated by tracking their workouts using products like Apple Fitness and Strava. We thought, why not track your writing sessions the same way?
Introducing Focused Sessions, a fun way to stay focused and build your writing muscle.
Here’s a quick video showing how it works:
To try focused sessions today, open any Lex doc (or create a new one, perhaps by typing “lex.new” into your browser), and click the “focused session” icon on the right, like this:
2. Update on the mysterious cool new thing
We had a ton of interest from the last email in trying our new mysterious cool way to visually organize drafts while you’re writing. Thank you!!
Over the past week we rolled out invites to Lex Pro subscribers, who had nice things to say! Here are a few real quotes from real people (a.k.a. not my mom):
“First word: WHOA”
“It’s so slick”
“I feel like you made this just for me”
“Well done and thank you for this brilliant development”
“You're on to something here!!”
We will roll out more invites in the coming weeks, and if you’d like us to add you to the list just reply to this email and say “I want to try the new thing.”
One caveat: the new thing is still very rough! We’re working hard to make it very polished for you, but it takes time. Thanks so much for trying it out and sending us all your feedback.
3. New Ask Lex prompt: SEO helper
We’ve heard from a lot of you that you want to make sure the content you create in Lex is SEO friendly. There are a lot of simple tasks, like generating a list of keywords or short descriptions, that AI is great at.
That’s why Sammy, our new writer in residence, has been working on an Ask Lex prompt to generate key SEO information from your draft.
If you’d like to try it email sammy@lex.page!
That’s about it for this week! As always, thanks so much for your support 🙏
