New in Lex: big upgrade to Context Tags (maybe our best feature)
Hey! Nathan here, founder of Lex (https://lex.page), the modern writing platform with AI editing tools built in.
A few quick updates for you this week:
1. Context tags—now much more powerful
We launched context tags a few months ago as an easy way to give AI a bunch of background information, examples, and custom instructions.
But we heard from you that it’s a bit of a pain to keep adding the same context tags to your chats over and over again. So we fixed it!
Now, you can tell a context tag to automatically add itself anytime you start an Ask Lex chat in all your documents, or specific documents or folders. We hope this helps you build powerful, streamlined workflows, and ensures your writing always has the right context.
Try it out today at https://lex.page and let us know how it’s working for you!
We’re also hosting a live session tomorrow (Wednesday) and will cover this feature. If you’re interested in learning how to make the most out of it, and Lex generally, click here to register!
2. What’s the best model for you?
We love Claude 3.5 Sonnet, and it’s been our Lex Pro default recommendation for months, but recent updates to GPT-4o have really impressed us.
GPT-4o’s improved reasoning has made it better at handling complex writing tasks, not to mention the benefits of its more up-to-date training cut off date.
While internal testing showing great results with 4o, this is the kind of decision that we want to run by our community.
Please take moment to vote in this poll —should we update our default Lex Pro model to GPT-4o, or stick with Claude 3.5 Sonnet?
3. New video guide: Lex for Academia
For professors, graduate students, and researchers of all types, we’ve created an onboarding video designed to help you hit the ground running with Lex. Whether you’re writing research papers, journal articles, or dissertations, this walkthrough will show you how to make the most of the platform.
You can watch it now here!
4. How to choose the right AI model
People always ask us for help selecting the right AI model for different kinds of writing. It’s a hard question to answer, as the ‘right’ model is a subjective thing, and the AI ecosystem rapidly changes (as you can see from #2 above).
Still, it’s something people are curious about, and we wanted to do our best to point them in the write direction.
Choosing the Right AI Model is a short read and covers the basics of each model in Lex, making it easier to experiment and find the one that works best for you.
5. Join our live session next week
We’re hosting another live session! Click here to register if you’re interested in learning about how to write & edit in Lex! We’d love to see you there :)
Thanks so much for being part of the Lex community. As always, feel free to reach out with feedback, questions, or ideas!
