☑️ Checkin' off + 3 Things
Hey-o! Happy Friday.
Defer Updates
I shipped a subtle but impactful update to Defer the other day.
Before, if you checked off a task, it was just gone. Literally deleted. Simple! But also jarring sometimes.
Now, completed tasks stick around for a bit. This means those of you that use Defer as your main to-do list (which is quite a few!) can see what you got done during a day and also get back to tasks if you need to.
You can still delete tasks if you're tired of looking at them, and they're deleted automatically after a week. Pretty neat!
Price Increase Incoming
If you've been on the fence about purchasing the pro version of Defer (and thereby supporting my whimsical indie app maker lifestyle), I'd encourage you to do it soon. I've added so many new features in the last few months that I plan on increasing the price a modest amount to $10/yr instead of the original $6/yr with the next update.
Writing!
I've written a few blog posts over on my website recently. Some are a bit technical, but the one I wrote today was a rant on core values. Check it out if you want to know why I think they're pointless most of the time but wrote some for here & co. anyway.
3 Things
Raycast is my favorite new productivity app. If you're familiar with Spotlight search on your Mac (or Alfred, for the nerds amongst you), Raycast is a supercharged version of it. Their tagline "One interface, everything you need." is not too far off. You open it like Spotlight, but then you can search so much more from files, to emojis, to your clipboard, while also extending it using their extension ecosystem. It's replaced about 4 other apps I was previously using for managing windows, snippets, clipboard and image optimization. Sorry, bit of a rant there but it's a delightful app!
Lems Shoes out of Boulder, CO. are just cool. Most of them are zero drop. They've got a wide toebox. Some are waterproof and easily packable. If you're more into the adventurist/hiker aesthetic than streetwear, check these out.
Pro-tip: instead of putting cables, pens, chargers, and other knickknacks straight into your bag, get a tech travel organizer that you can swap between bags. I tend to switch bags depending on if I'm going somewhere to work or if I'm heading out for the weekend, but I generally need the same tech stuff. Here’s mine:
I could probably thin this bag out a bit, but its nice that I know everything I could need for me or my family is in here, and it's only about 6" x 9" when zipped up.
