3 Tips + a cool new 🤓 feature in Defer
Hello! Happy Wednesday. A few updates on my products, and three tips for you, as always.
Defer + Webhooks: The Productive Nerd's Secret Weapon
This week I added webhooks to Defer. What is a webhook, you ask? Oh-ho-ho! If you haven't used one before, you're in for a treat.
I guess I shouldn't oversell them. But they are neat!
A webhook is a standardized, simple method used to send data from one app to another whenever a specific event occurs, automatically.
Basically, you can now integrate Defer with whatever app you want via other tools like Zapier, Make.com, IFTTT, or other nerdy tools. Easily send grocery items to Todoist. Send your work tasks to Linear. Etc.
Here's a video that explains more:
Sidenote - if you’re enjoying Defer, please give it a rating or review. It really does help! Or be sure to let me know if you’d like to see anything added to it.
Facecards
I could still use some beta testers for the simple face-matching Slack game I made! If you think it might be useful in your workspace, I appreciate you giving it an install. If nothing else, you’ll help me get to 10 installs so I can list it on the official Slack app directory.

đź“– Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals
Few books have positively altered my life outlook as much as this one. If you feel angsty about getting everything done, not having enough time, or just want a book to commiserate with re: the absurdity that we are here rather than not here, give it a read.
Once you truly understand that you’re guaranteed to miss out on almost every experience the world has to offer, the fact that there are so many you still haven’t experienced stops feeling like a problem. Instead, you get to focus on fully enjoying the tiny slice of experiences you actually do have time for—and the freer you are to choose, in each moment, what counts the most.
🛠️ Shottr: Screenshot Annotation App
I’m surprised Macs don’t have a better built-in screenshot & annotation tool. Shottr has filled that void from me, and I love calling attention to indie developers making delightful utilities like these. Lots of little details to make communicating via screenshots easier.
🔊 Art of the Score Podcast
This is such a joyful intersection of nerdery and music. Listen to three Australians dissect some of the most iconic movie scores in history - they’ll call attention to things you haven’t noticed and make you excited to watch movies with fresh ears. Check out the one on How to Train Your Dragon - a movie whose score has no right being so good.
