Greeting, bold adventurers!
This letter teases a new upcoming event this fall and offers a good-news update on our much-delayed boxed set. Read on for more.
You can also find us on Instagram and Bluesky for topical updates in the months to come.
But First: MagicCon!
Our event at MagicCon: Chicago, called “Thunder Over the Forsaken Isle,” was a rollicking success. Many and mighty thanks to all of the game moderators, event staff, and players who made this event work with us. It all happened so fast!
Energetic players across numerous tables explored a mysterious island that had appeared off the Sword Coast of the Forgotten Realms and worked together, across all tables, to defeat the ancient dragon that slumbered beneath the isle.
It was close there for a while. With about 30 minutes left in the event, it seemed the adventurers wouldn’t be able to defeat the boss monster and would subsequently be whisked away when the Forsaken Isle left the Forgotten Realms. But the players rallied and triumphed by the end!
We tried some new event techniques for this adventure. They worked great! We expect to bring some of these elements to future Level Eater events, too — such as sealed envelopes to open throughout the event as your quests reveal lore and progress. Good fun.
A Mysterious Autumn Event
We’ve locked in a date for an all-new adventure at the Co-Prosperity Sphere. Even now, we’re testing new rules, writing new quests and characters, and experimenting with a bold endeavor to make this event more accessible to new players. While we cannot yet reveal details about the adventure, we shall offer new hints ere long.
But first, we want ye newsletter readers to be among the first to know the date in question:
Saturday, September 13, 2025
If all goes well, we’ll host a Demo Expo for tabletop games that afternoon and play the new adventure that night. More details to come through this letter in the weeks ahead.
Inside the Box
Our handsome boxed set of zines, maps, and other goodies has been delayed three times already, due to unforeseen troubles on our side, a death in the family, and the uncertainty surrounding the box’s compatibility with the 2024 rules revisions for the game. Thanks for your patience thus far, already!
This year, we’ve been in a holding pattern, trying to ensure the zines remain useful following the new updates to the core game and waiting to hear when we can officially release compatible materials for the revised rules.
We’re happy to report that news about the Creative Commons licensing for 2024-era rules broke this week. This means we can make final revisions and updates to accommodate the 2024 rules and what we’re allowed to reference, starting on April 22nd or so. Depending on the materials we get access to on that date, we’ll have a timeline for revisions and then finally go to press on the zines for the boxed set. (Many other components for the boxes are already printed and waiting.)
Once the zines are printed and delivered, we’ll ship out the preorders and open up for general domestic ordering. We’re printing extremely limited numbers of the set, but we expect we’ll have some to sell at future events, as well.
With that, thanks for reading!
