Thunder Over the Forsaken Isle
In a thundering storm, an island appears off the Sword Coast of the Forgotten Realms! It shudders and flutters on the edge of existence, flickering like a candle in the wind. The storm it brought pulls in ships and souls to wreck upon its shore, and monsters roam its wooded hills. As some ships pull against the storm and flee, others approach the island, carrying daring adventurers — like you! — intent on saving the shipwrecked and discovering secrets of the island itself.
Learn what dangers lurk there and what manner of magic has brought it here. Venture into original encounters of intrigue and peril, including monsters from the 2024 Monster Manual.
Throughout play, your adventuring party selects encounters from more than a dozen scattered across the island. Choose your quests and change your fates!
When Dungeons & Dragons play debuts at MagicCon in Chicago, we’ll be there! On Saturday, February 22nd, at 11am, we’re hosting a grand epic in the Level Eater style, set in the iconic game world of the Forgotten Realms.
Tickets for our event are on sale now! You must be a registered convention attendee to play this new, stand-alone adventure. Here’s how to register.
This is not a Portsbridge adventure, but this self-contained event is a great opportunity to meet other D&D players and DMs from Chicago and afar as we gather at McCormick Place for MagicCon!
At MagicCon, we harness the updated game rules for Dungeons & Dragons to feature encounters built around the newly expanded Monster Manual, which also debuts this month!
When we got the invitation to produce this adventure and show off the Level Eater style of play at this huge event, we were thrilled! It’s our sincere hope that you can join us there so we can introduce more people to what we do.
Bonus! Your ticket gets you our new zine and 50 prize points just for playing with us! As revealed on MagicCon’s site: “The prize area at D&D HQ at MagicCon: Chicago will contain a selection of D&D books from the past few years and some other items. 50 prize points can be redeemed for most books in the prize area.“
Saturday night at MagicCon is also a great opportunity to catch the amazing DM — Aabria Iyengar — and performers from Baldur’s Gate 3 at D&D Live here in Chicago.
Our Thanks to Everyone at the Demo Expo!
Over the next couple of letters, we’ll share links to some of the Chicago-area game designers and artists who brought their new works to the Tabletop Games Demo Expo this year.
Up first? Let us declare great thanks and mighty admiration for Goblin Market, who brought a wondrous array of games, books, dice, (mimics,) and more to Bridgeport for the afternoon event.
We have lofty hopes of growing the Demo Expo for next time. And for that, we thank all of you who attended and spent some time trying out new games.
The Results of Level Eater 15...
Level Eater 15 happened across two days this time!
We’re still reeling from Level Eater 15, our most recent adventure to benefit the Public Media Institute (PMI) in Chicago.
At the outset of the event, five new city sites sought the attention, expertise, and success of Portsbridge’s adventurers. With each quest the adventurers completed, they were able to contribute to the progress of building these five different sites within our fantastical city of Portsbridge:
The Gardens
The Smithies
The Library
The Healing Temple
The Mystic Sanctum
By the end of our two-day event, every building had been built up to some degree. The Healing Temple proved the most popular site, followed closely by the Mystic Sanctum and the city’s new Library. Those were each built up to the fourth (out of five) tiers.
Gardens were planned and planted, too, and a few new Smithies were built.
These new sites have parts to play in the next adventure for Portsbridge.
Then, at the end of our adventure in the Dinosaur Kingdom, the amazing engine spun up beneath the city, moving like an orrery and working its magic, revving faster and faster until it teleported the city of Portsbridge away from one world and into another.
A world of giants.
But it seems we might have brought some dinosaurs with us.
Behind the Screen
As the wandering city of Portsbridge prepares for future adventures, we at Level Eater turn our attention to designing new quests, allies, and monsters to bring new tales to life — reflecting the tales of Level Eater 15.
In the meantime, we’re looking at the possibility of a new adventure-gaming event this autumn, too. Stay tuned to see if we can find out where in the calendar that can happen.
With that, thanks for reading! We have another letter coming up in maybe a week, as well, with still more exciting news.
Oh, one more thing. If you’ve never heard the Level Eater theme music, you can listen to a version of it on our site now, if you scroll down. Enjoy!
Cast beacon of hope,
Level Eater Adventures
