Three Things #9
Here we are again, where I remind you that the unsubscribe button hasn’t moved since the last time we went over this.
This newsletter is called “Three Things” but there’s really only one main thing this time.
The second thing is mostly just me clearing my throat, since I’ve actually got many thousands of words on the topic (during which I rant about nationalism, typewriters, and bone-headed computer programmers), but which I have, for the moment, spared you all from. So it’s more of a peeve than anything else.
And the third thing is just a grab bag of links, like those wishing wells of cheap choking hazards disguised as toys that Perkins restaurants used to have in their foyers.
1: Another Poetry Reading
On Wednesday, September 4th at 7:30 CDT, I will be reading with several other Unsolicited Press authors as part of the ongoing series, Literary Nights.
Tune in at Unsolicited’s Youtube channel.
2: THE VAN THAT STICKS UP GETS HAMMERED DOWN!
Vessels is now listed at a multitude of online retailers, as well as the online shops for most independent bookstores. All of them, however, have misspelled my last name by capitalizing the “van.”
(Actually, not all: at Amazon’s sites for the UK, Spain, and the Netherlands, the “van” is, in fact, lower-case.)
My publisher is hunting down the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
My name appears correctly at Vessels’ product page, of course. And in fact, I insisted that my name not be in allcaps on the cover & spine of the book itself but rather in upper- and lower-case. I knew that I’d be facing a rash of capitalized vans (hell, I’ve been playing whack-a-mole with that damn letter my whole life), so if the cover of the book is the first time you see my name, I wanted there to be absolutely no doubt: the van is lower-case. Accept no substitutes!
3: The Dude was Right
At some point, I may have said something about making a playlist for Vessels, and I’m still working on it. (By which I mean: I finished it, then I threw it out and started over, and I’m now rebuilding it again completely. Because I apparently have nothing better to do with my time. Shouldn’t I be writing my next book or something? And there are definitely some emails I should be answering.)
In the meantime, here are some music-related links for you to rake through and pick out what you like.
