Writers often divide themselves into two camps: Those who build a careful blueprint for their novel before they write a word, and those who eschew the idea of such things, and wing every page of the process. There’s even a name for each of these sorts of writers: The first are ‘plotters,’ the second ‘pantsers’ (as in fly-by-the-seat-of-their).
