Just be love
Just be love
Hello, friends!
Many of you wrote to say you enjoyed the hand-drawn newsletter I sent last time, so here we go again! (I apologize in advance for my atrocious handwriting.)
I'd like to add to this one that affirmations are not bad things. I think I way, way overdid it, honestly, but the act of writing them was often more valuable than pasting them up. I think any opportunity we can take as humans to self-evaluate and apply real thought to improving ourselves is an opportunity we should grab onto fiercely.
Here are some of the most useful affirmations—and aspirations! things that are not yet true but I am trying to make true—that I hung on the mirror:
- I am proud of me.
- Come what may, I will be okay.
- I am strong and growing stronger daily.
- I can manage destructive thoughts and emotions.
- I show up for me. I show up for my family. I show up for my partner. I show up.
- I have value just because I exist.
- I am capable of growth and change.
- It's okay to feel my feelings fully.
- I love my body.
- I am grateful for the love I am learning to show myself.
- I am worthy of love.
- I will make mistakes while I work on myself. I will be kind to the me I am becoming.
A few days ago, I took nearly all of these messages down from the mirror, tucked them into my journal, and archived the journal. I left only a few of them pasted up. A day later, I took most of those down, too.
There are only two left:
And this little snapshot of little Jason, who is going to get through all the hard times ahead just fine:
For him, I'll be love.
✏️Until next time,
Jg
