NEWS LTR №3: Platforms, signs and 3 drawings!
LettError on Adobe Fonts
Hey, if you are an Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber, you can find a selection of LTR type in Adobe Fonts. They have LTR Beowolf and BeoSans (the original randomfonts), as well as the variable versions of LTR Principia and LTR Slab Extended. And of course the shaded LTR Federal Bureaus. The variable LTR NCND will be available from Adobe Fonts soon!
LettError on FontStand
LettError has been a member of the sympathetic font service FontStand since its inception. With a FontStand account you have access to an amazing selection of foundries and fonts and you can lease or rent our fonts by paying a small amount per month. Useful for trials, proposals, small projects, research and students! And: all fonts can be tried for free, for 3 hours. That's 180 minutes of free fontage.
FontStand News offers typography articles, essays and highlights. For instance this article on the typography of wine and liquor labels including the wonderful use of LTR Federal on the bottles of St. George Spirits.
While you're over at Fontstand, check out the new “Foundry Subscriptions”. A new kind of access to all our fonts.
Illustrated letters
When letters and words appear in illustration, they get to play. The eye interprets and the pen suggests rather than reproduces. That LettError is rather fond of this interplay comes as no surprise… see all the zines. Need excellent lettering? We offer competitive rates!
LettError on the web
You can license all our fonts for your websites and host them yourself, on your machine. We don't tally, track, analyse or monetise your site (unlike 'free' fonts). While we love to see our fonts in great places (if you want to show off nice work, let us know!), it is really none of our business who visits your site. Or when. Or why. Pick a tier of traffic, then pick up the WOFF2 files. (license here)
Local Letters
The Haagse Letters account on Insta is for type, signs, and lettering in and around The Hague. Not always exemplars of good work, but interesting to look at and often something to learn.
Anyway. Thank you for signing up to this NewsLTR! (Check the archive for previous editions here: there may even be some coupons in there with some power left). In these dark days, may your OLED shine on you & your GPU keep you warm. Until next time!
