Midsummer

greetings! It’s been quite a while since I wrote. I’ve traveled a lot this year - to Antarctica, Patagonia, Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula, Berlin, London and Ireland. In between all the traveling (loads of photos on Instagram) I’ve been busily making work.

This Sunday is the closing reception for my exhibition at Matthai Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor - In the Forest for the Trees. This show features work that combines cyanotype and encaustic monotype. Most of the work is based in direct prints of leaves from trees which are important to the native ecosystem. This work was made with the help of one of the arborists at Matthai in selecting and procuring leaves.

Cottonwood Leaves - cyanotype and ink on paper, 9” x 12”
Tulip Leaf Tango, cyanotype and encaustic monotype - 12” x 36”
Dancing on the Wind,cyanotype & mixed media, 16” x 16”

Coming up later this fall I’ll be having an open studio in mid November. I’ll send more information about that closer to the date. And in the future also is a water centric group show at the Janice Charach Gallery in West Bloomfield and an Arctic focused group show at Marist University. Several solo shows on the horizon next year but I’ll save details on that for another time.

Meanwhile I hope you are well and if you’re local I hope you’ll join me on Sunday from 2-4 at Matthai.

warmly-

-Leslie
