Arctic Blues solo exhibition opening soon
Arctic Blues
This solo exhibition is rooted in my two residencies in Svalbard in the high Arctic and will be at 22 North Gallery in Ypsilanti Michigan. Works range from 16” x 16” to 30” x 90” - a mix of encaustic, oil and mixed media on panel. These works are a mix of icebergs, sea ice, melting glaciers and - unusually for me - Arctic animals. I think of these pieces as icons - using metal leaf and other precious materials to highlight these endangered animals and places. These are paintings about grief, about a place we are losing and about beauty and serenity. I hope you’ll join me at one of the events below.
