Shop Update & WIP
Hello!
It definitely feels like August out there. So much so that I’ve been trying to shift my circadian rhythms to keep me out of the heat of my workspace during the day. My current goal is to get up early, do some work out there, then come back in for indoor tasks like admin and writing when it gets miserably hot, maybe take a nap, then back out to work late when it mercifully cools off. I can’t say it’s a great success just yet, but it does mean that I’m often out working in the tent when the coyotes and owls start calling back and forth, and I sometimes get to see the raccoons trundling by on their nightly errands. The advantages of a crepuscular work schedule, I guess.
Anyway, a shop update! On Friday at 1pm Pacific, I’ll have six pieces available.
First, another carved planter. I really love getting to carve seaweed shapes.
Then, some black clay and porcelain combinations, including a beetle in my new favorite beetle glaze:
An octopus on a vase:
And more frogs:
I also wanted to try an experiment with how this contrasting clay could work for a mug. I’m really happy with the flow and swirl of glazes on the frog, as well as the bark texture on the mug. I might have to try more along these lines!
Those will all be in the shop on Friday, and can be previewed now.
I’m still making progress on the fall show, so here’s a work-in-progress of a small piece I’ve been detailing over the last few days:

Still got more work to do on the scales, but it’s not far off.
Thanks for reading!
