A couple things

It never stops feeling incredibly strange to try to make, promote, and sell art when Things are Happening.

And Things certainly do be Happening, particularly here in Los Angeles. I just heard reports of ICE in our neighborhood today, not for the first time this week. Today they’re over where I like to walk to buy my coffee or breakfast tacos or fruit. I wonder who will be gone tomorrow, which faces will be absent from the fabric of our community.

But I’m obviously not your source of information on what’s happening in this city and this country right now, so I’ll just acknowledge the dissonance I’m feeling, link to a couple useful places you could send some money, and move on to share a couple pieces that will be in a mini shop update on Monday the 16th at 10am Pacific (Even setting an update time feels wobbly. What if something happens over the weekend? Will it feel even more inappropriate to promote mugs on social media?).

But the mugs persist. A pair of plesiosaurs this time— one in a red-to-blue glaze, and one in a glaze with that flows purple and loves to get drippy. I have to be cautious with application or it’ll puddle and glue the mug to the kiln shelf, but I do love when it drips just enough to run over a bit of neck. I hope other people like that too.

And then there’s the Pacific Coast pitcher, inspired by some of my favorite common finds in tide pools up and down this coast, plus one rare one. This piece kept me up nights. I spent so long on all the details, and even with drying it at slowly as possible, I was just certain something was going to go wrong in the firing. But no! No octopus arms cracked, the colors came out like I was hoping, and, almost best of all: it pours beautifully. Always feels good to see that.

I’ll be adding dimensions to the listings tomorrow, but in the meantime, this little update can be previewed in the shop.

Anyway, these will be up on Monday. Meanwhile, stay brave, stay safe, see you out there.
