Hello everyone! Applications are now open for Guerilla Opera’s 2026-27 Writers’ Collective! Join me in working on a text for an opera, a musical, a song cycle, or other work of musical theater. Applications close July 31, so apply now, and feel free to share this email with anyone you know who might be interested!

From September through May, we meet twice a month over Zoom to workshop our writing and to discuss issues and topics in the opera industry. This year we’ll have guest speakers on working with composers and performers, and on funding and promoting your work. Our workshopping protocol is Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process, which is author-centered and focused on providing feedback in an encouraging and supportive environment. The Collective’s activities culminate with table reads for each participant’s work.

Tuition for the Writers’ Collective is $1,115 per person, but if you register by 7/15/26 or are a returning participant, you get a 5% discount, lowering the fee to $1,059.25. And if you pay in full by September 8, we will waive the 2% PayPal processing fee for paying by credit card. Limited financial aid and a variety of payment plans are available.
