If I were more on the ball, this would have been included with the last email, but I didn’t get the energy to finish get it ready until after I sent it, so let’s just call this August Addendum, hm?

Robert Harper was glad to see the back of prison.

It hadn’t been a long sentence. He’d known people with much longer ones — in there with him, of course, but even outside. Still, the grey food, and the grey walls, and the grey guards all became loathsome pretty quickly, and at times he’d had to resort to literally counting down the hours just to get through the day.

He trudged away from the gates toward the depot with just enough money for his fare, pulling his thin jacket closed with one hand as the other was clenched around his few coins, a remnant of the paranoia you developed in there about anything precious you managed to scrounge up. It had only been sixty days, but he’d sweltered away the heat of the summer behind bars, and his clothes were more suited to July than late September. A woman walking down the sidewalk toward him gave him a flinty look before she passed: everyone in Ossining could tell a parolee at a glance.

Arrow Collar Man is the story of Robert Harper, a member of turn-of-the-century New York's queer scene. He recently served a stint at Sing Sing for a crime he didn't commit, and can't seem to get back on his feet, so when his uncle sends for him to come upstate to work in a department store, he has little choice but to comply. Certain that he's just going to closet himself for a few months and then return home, he never expects to lose his heart to someone he meets at work -- or to have his past tangle itself with his present.

This is a novella of about 35,000 words centered on an m/m romance with a … well, I would say “not-getting-on-well-to-lovers” vibe, because I’m very pedantic about what counts as “enemies”.
