🍋 Issue #2 - Whatcha Gonna Do?
Welcome to the second issue of things I avoid tweeting about and instead stuff into an email! (TIATAAISIIE for short?)
While editing ShopTalk Show this week I learned something new:
Cunningham's Law states: "the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it's to post the wrong answer."
I love it. Here's some wrong answers for you to consider: 😀
Link Thought Things
I'm rocking the new "Hello Yellow" background on my Mac thanks to this tutorial explaining how to get Big Sur wallpapers on non-M1 Mac computers.
Germany in the early 90’s, Trabants, fathers, rock stars in dresses, bandannas, and a song that saved a band.
I recently tried to sort out the ethernet wiring in our house and kind of got it working for 1GB speeds. Ben Frain's got a write up on how he upgraded his house to 10GB that has me jealous. He's got a video version if you prefer.
Are animated dads getting hotter? Important research being done. 😝
I'm awful at figuring out meetings with people in different timezones. I recently stumbled on the free Clocker for macOS and it works great.
Frank Abagnale - the basis for the movie Catch Me If You Can - may have made it all up. A double (or triple?) con! via Kottke.org
Those gross viral food videos you see shared in horror? Many of them come from one magician.
Dust off your TikTok account - if you're applying for a job, you might be able to just send in your TikTok account.
John Mulaney is trying to find a new voice for his comedy amidst struggles with alcohol, drugs, and anxiety. Who should he be now?
Discord unveils their new blurple & logo - blurple is the color for their branding. I dig it.
Podcasting Thought Things
I'm not a huge fan of the "exclusive" movement in podcasting. The latest to make the move is Dax Sheppard's Armchair Expert going to Spotify. Nothing against the Spotify app, it just sucks to be forced to use one specific app for a podcast that was previously available to any podcast app for listening. That's my $0.02CAD.
Picture of the Week
I sat outside a local coffee shop this week and worked for the first time in a long time - pandemic + winter doesn't make for great coffee shop working options. It almost felt normal?
That's it for this week!
