π Issue #17 - Searching the Internet for That Dopamine
Welcome to issue #17!
AI is everywhere you look on the internet these days. I don't know how it's all going to shake out - hopefully I still have a business in a year? π§ - but it's certainly interesting to mess with ChatGPT and related tech. I feel like we're going to have a revival of "custom made" (aka human made) creativity as a response to all the AI generated muck, but that's probably a few years away yet.
On to the links!

- Speaking of AI, a client mentioned Deepgram as a powerful tool for transcribing audio. Might come in handy.
- Apple's big developer conference, WWDC, is coming up the first week of June. The big question seems to be whether Apple will announce some sort of AR / VR headset. John Gruber thinks they will. But at what cost? I think it'll be very expensive for version 1.
- More AI! Generative AI allows TikTok creators to reimagine history is a fascinating look at how our world could look if key events happened differently. /Via kottke.org
- "There are years that ask questions and years that answer." Tsh Oxenreider writes about figuring out if you're in a season of questions or a season of answers.
- Speaking of bloggers - friend (and distant relation) Jodi Enns wrote an important article on her new blog entitled The Hidden Costs of Trauma:
Our bodies are remarkable. What my body did to protect me in a season of duress is a miracle. Absorbing the emotional distress for so long, it was now telling me, βItβs time to heal.β The erratic ailments bring me into a place of empathy for myself; listening to the signals that are crying for my attention.
- Finally, if you've got Apple devices in your home, make sure to update to iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, and / or macOS 13.4 for some important security fixes/.
Podcasting Thought Things
This episode of The Daily that talked about the NSO Group that sells software designed to listen and spy on any phone makes me want to throw my phone in the ocean. π±
Picture of the Week
This is an AI generated photo of me with the coolest looking headphones on, and a much better beard than I've ever had in my life. Yikes.
Be curious. Not judgmental. π
