🍋 Issue #26 - Eggnoging It Year End
iOS 17.2 introduces new Journal app, Dropbox faces backlash for default AI data sharing, and Threads gains traction as Twitter's popularity declines.
Welcome to issue #26 !
Happy eggnog + fudge weekend to all who celebrate!
I talked with my editor and we decided that this would be the final issue of Life as a Lemon for 2023. We'll resume sending thoughts out over the email wire the first week of 2024.
I hope you enjoy the break in whatever way is awesome for you. Thank you so much for allowing me in to your inbox (or RSS feed) each week.

Thoughts I Would Have Tweeted
In iOS 17.2, released this week, Apple added a new Journal app. Here's a explainer on how it works.
I've been using Day One for journaling for years, and at first glance Apple's Journal app is quite basic in comparison. But having access to health data, photos, and videos makes it a compelling place to start a digital journal if you never have. "Here's a photo from 2 years ago - what do you remember from that moment?" is a great journal starter.
Dropbox decides to send your data to OpenAI for AI learning by default and people freak out. Rightfully so.
Instagram / Meta's Twitter competitor, Threads, is now available in Europe. Every time Elon does something stupid or evil, my enjoyment of Threads increases as more people join.
I still check in on Twitter as there's local political news, developer & client connections, and a faint hope that someday it will be restored to it's former glory. But it's fading away.

Podcasts
I haven't listened yet, but Cautionary Tales was recommended by someone in the ShopTalk Show Discord and it sounds interesting:
Really enjoy these sorts reflections on the past and learning from mistakes in all kinds of different industries / systems.
4 seasons to binge on any longer drives / flights you may have over the holidays.

Cheers with some eggnog + spices to you and yours this holiday season!
