🍋 Issue #32 - Monday 💩 Monday

"Dog fun, podcast updates and messy kitchens in issue #32!"

Welcome to issue #32!

I started the week off with a phrase every pet parent, or human parent for that matter, loves to hear:

“Dad? Neville pooped in his crate.”

I honestly don’t know how dog lovers do it. I’m dog lover adjacent and in the middle of cleaning up after our 65lb golden doodle “puppy”, I’m starting to process how right now might be the perfect time to try and sell him what with Xmas coming up and all.

You’ll be relieved to know he’s laying on the floor beside me as I write this without any sort of Facebook Marketplace posting of him. Yet.

16 days until Xmas! Don’t be a Chris and leave everything to the last minute!

On with the email!

Words I Wrote

Links to blog or social media posts I published in the past week.

  • Walking on Broken Glass - My thoughts jumping off a John Gruber post on Human Interface lead designer Alan Dye quitting Apple and going to Meta / Facebook.

Linking to Likes

YouTube videos, blog posts, podcast episodes—whatever I've enjoyed or found interesting over the last few weeks.

  • Benoit Blanc’s Road to Damascus - Spoilers ahead if you haven't seen Wake Up Dead Man yet. It might be my favourite movie of 2025.

  • 25 Things to Say to Your Children - You can do hard things.

  • ILM Visual Effects Artist Breaks Down Hidden VFX - I love seeing the subtle and not-so-subtle ways visual FX are used in storytelling.

  • How to quit Spotify - No judgement, but if for a variety of reasons you might want to quit Spotify, here's how.

  • Smartphones and being present - I'm in a phase of less right now. But more is always one TikTok re-install away.

  • Oh No, a Tech Company is Buying a Movie Studio - I appreciate the history of movie studio ownership written up here and the context it gives.

  • The "Mad Men" in 4K on HBO Max Debacle - HBO Max did a terrible job of “restoring” Mad Men to 4K

  • Stranger Things RECAP before the Final Season - A Stranger Things recap to catch you up for the final season. We've started rewatching from the beginning. I don't know if we'll finish. Ever.

This Week at Lemon Productions

It's not always easy to talk about client work when it’s not public yet, but I thought I'd link to episodes I found interesting, or fun things happening in podcasting that I come across.

  • I have a blog post in draft form called "Why You Shouldn't Use Riverside's Podcast Hosting to Host Your Podcast" that I'm debating publishing.

I think sometimes it's good to be a critical voice in what's going on in podcasting. Sometimes I think I'm just being cranky and negative. With this one, I can't tell yet.

  • A new show I've been working on with a client / friend called "When Love Hurts" has published their first 3 episodes. It's a show all about the realities of men's abuse of women.

Personally it's been a much more difficult edit to hear just because the content is a lot more personal and sometimes painful than the usual tech conversations I'm editing. But I appreciate the challenge of handling the conversations and vulnerability shared by the voices on the podcast.

You can subscribe in Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Picture From My Life

10 photos from a photo library of various elements of a kitchen with dishes and uncleaned pans on display.
A few photos of a kitchen mess left behind by some elves.

Have you really fully parented if you haven't sent your kid(s) photos of the mess they just walked away from in the kitchen?
