Leaflet alpha - RSVPs with text updates

Small thing: we improved image loading!

Jared worked some magic with image performance (caching; optimizing sizes) so images now load faster on initial pageload and much faster if already cached in your browser.

Bigger thing: we shipped a new RSVP block!

Add RSVPs — and text updates to respondents — right in a Leaflet.

We've seen a lot of people using Leaflet to coordinate events, listing logistical details and things like signup sheets for potlucks. We wanted to build this in so you no longer need a separate app to see who's going.

Want to give it a try? It's super quick to set up:

  • make a new doc at leaflet.pub and add an 'RSVP' block

  • share the "publish" link to invite people

  • they RSVP with their phone number, and you can message them event updates

NOTE: messages are sent via SMS to people in the US/Canada and WhatsApp to all others.

Try this for your next family gathering, friend dinner, picnic, party, meetup, unconference, game night…whatever! Of course, particularly useful for events that need a nice place for shared notes :)

We'd love to hear if this is useful, and how it can be improved.

For example, right now we've kept things modular, so you can make an event doc combining 'RSVP' + 'Date and Time' + title/description as regular text blocks. Would you prefer an 'Event' block with more uniform structure for event info? Other ideas?

We're also exploring some different directions for an improved "subscribe" feature, a block for sending newsletter-style updates via text or email. Please let us know if "minimal newsletters inside Leaflet" is something you'd use!
