Leaflet alpha - doc homepages
Hi all, another Leaflet update!
Main thing in the past week: a new homepage for your docs!
One piece of feedback we've heard from a lot of you — it's nice to have super quick document creation, but it's a little disconcerting to have no easy way to save them, besides manually copying the link somewhere.
So far we've worked around this by saving in pinning tabs, bookmarks, or a local text note…but definitely nicer to have a simple way to do this right in the app.
To solve this we added a homepage, which you can access from the "home" button on any doc, or directly at leaflet.pub/home (good for bookmarking!)
It uses localstorage, which means you still don't need an account or any sort of login, but also means 1) it's per-device so you'll have to visit a doc at least once on each device / browser for it to show in home, and 2) if you clear cookies it'll also clear your doc history.
Right now, any doc you have the edit link for will add to home; docs you can view only (or docs opened in incognito) will not be added. Note that docs you’ve made in the past won’t show here til you visit them again to initialize the homepage.
If you make test docs you don't want to keep, you can delete docs from home as well — careful, this doesn't just remove the link, it permanently deletes 'em.
I think we got a couple other little bug fixes in, but that's the one big new feature — and we're thinking about what'd be most exciting & useful to add next! Since our first update we've been shipping significant improvements every 1-2 weeks and hoping to keep it up.
As always please reply with any thoughts on what would make the biggest impact for you in making Leaflet awesome to use, or let you create a particular document you want to make.
We'd also love to reach new folks who might find Leaflet useful — let us know if you think of anyone (individuals or communities / orgs) we should chat with about making delightful docs :)
Thanks!
