One day, the U.S. empire will buckle beneath its own weight. I don’t know if I’ll be alive to see that day. I don’t know how many innocent casualties the monster will take out as it crashes to the ground. But I do know that no empire is sustainable, that there is no such thing as a benevolent empire, and that no long-term good can come from one nation-state declaring itself the cop of the world.

My people are the people who don’t want war, who don’t support U.S. invasions or regime changes. My people take to the streets to reject imperialism. The people I admire most are the ones breaking into weapons factories to destroy the goods (Support the hunger strikers). My people don’t get misty-eyed about the U.S. “spreading freedom around the world” every time the bombs drop. They are clear-eyed about the wake of death and destruction the U.S. leaves in its wake every time it takes a wrecking ball to other countries. As we enter another year of escalating fascism, I’m at least grateful that my people are out there, being better humans than the fucking ghouls running this nation-state and the stooges manufacturing consent for their power grabs.
