Is your phone's operating system up to date?
On Monday Apple held their annual World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC). This event shows off the new features and changes coming to the latest software of all Apple products. As described in the title of the event, it's geared towards changes developers need to do to get prepared for, but it's exciting seeing the changes that will be coming to the devices that I use daily. Just look at the new "Liquid Glass" design changes:

If you use any Apple device, it'll have an extremely different look come fall time. Bunch of other features and cool tidbits will come with the update as. You can watch the whole presentation here:
And you are going to update to it, right!?
I'm just kidding reader! You're just like me. The iPhone you're reading this is already up to date (psst...18.5) and ready for this new version. Or for my Android folks, you're on the latest version (which for Samsung is Android 15...but for Pixel devices is Android 16??? What!? (If you're on any other manufacturer, it's between you and whatever God you believe in to figure out the right version!)). You read the things I write, I know you're all over this stuff.
You keep your multiple computers up to date cause you want all those important security updates. The Mac that you bought (psst...15.5) for that six month bootcamp you took. Your Windows 11 gaming PC (NOT TEN...ELEVEN!) just got updated (psst...24H2. (26100.4349 specifically)). They just fixed 67 vulnerabilities! SIXTY-SEVEN!!!
That doesn't even include your smart watch. Or your TV. How about your smart speakers? You got any digital picture frames? Gaming consoles? That all connects to your router. When is the last time you updated that? Wait...is your car up to date?
I haven't even gotten into the individual apps we keep on said devices! We need to keep all those up to date too! What if an update just breaks everything?
Is Luis okay?
I am reader. And thank you for caring! I started this post trying to build a case for why you should care about updating all your devices. Then I asked myself, "Why should they care?" Your lives are busy enough. So I pivoted to just explaining to why I personally care about software version numbers and the stupid notes attached to them. You won't believe this but...I then was like "Yo...why the fuck do I care about this?"
Distractions. Just keeping ourselves distracted from other things. Whether that be life, work, politics. Whatever it is, we just need a break from it. While writing this, I just happen to realize I distract myself with the weirdest things. This is probably affecting other aspects of my life (hopefully a joke (to be clear: the sentence, not my life)). If you made it this far, hopefully it worked.
speaking of updates
Puzzmo is this website that has daily puzzles for you to complete. Think Crossword, Chess, Sudoku. Things like that. I used to be a subscriber and played daily. I just found out they now have an iOS app. I decided to get back into it.
If any of that sounds interesting to you, I made a club you can join. Try and beat my high score.
Think you can find a device I don't have updated or got some other games for me to try? Let me know at blog@lattepunk.com.
