I am glad the GoComics community appreciated yesterday's strip.
Some of the loyal readers are now folks I interact with almost daily. I enjoy their banter, stories, and appreciation for the strip. I have been reading the comments since I started writing the strip, and some of them have been commenting for over a decade.
Just because they are on my side today, doesn't mean they will be tomorrow. I plan on introducing more BIPOC, trans, and non-binary characters because I want Gil Thorp's world to reflect my world. It's printed in a newspaper. I pray that the folks reading this strip also scan at the rest of the paper because it's not 1960 anymore.
Here's an excerpt of the description I was giving for Gil:
Gil is not necessarily resistant to modern times, and he embraces what’s good and right no matter how new the idea might seem...
Just because the world sucks doesn't mean it will always suck for Gil. There will be fun, laughs, gags, references to inside jokes, and things I want to do you can only do in comics. But he's always going to do what's right, and we're not always going to agree.
I hope folks enjoy the ride because you can always go read Peanuts or Dilbert for the familiar. But please keep clicking. I live for the clicks.
I'm rambling.
Anyway, please listen to one of the hit songs from the record-shattering 2003 Daredevil soundtrack.
Until tomorrow,
HB
