Last chance to preorder Death to Pachuco #1

Hello current and brand-new subscribers!

Today’s one of those Mondays that Garfield talks about a lot.

Final Order Cut Off Monday. (OK. He never talked about FOC, but he does hate Mondays.)

"FOC" is insider baseball for our deadline to sell as many Death to Pachuco #1 copies to ensure we have a successful five issue series. Indie comics live and die based on the first issue sales. But thanks to you and our Kickstarter backers, we’re not starting in the red. We’re going into this with a huge advantage of not starving ourselves to make our art. Everyone has been paid for the work that is out there. That’s important to me.

If you haven’t already preordered Death to Pachuco #1, click here to do so. There will be a special place for you in heaven if you do. Trust me, I’m an agnostic atheist.

Cape & Cowl Con 2025 RECAP!

A handful of you are new subscribers from the very show. Thanks for signing up and promising to buy DTP at Cape & Cowl. I hadn’t done a show in Le Bay since 2021, so it was nice to come back to everyone’s favorite part of California.

I got to chill with my pals Gonzo, Ryan, and Morgan Hampton. I met Moe at Black & Brown Comics Fest when he was just coming up, and now he’s writing Green Lantern! Keep an eye on him. He’s going places.

It was also a bonus to see famous New Yorker Joe Illidage in Oakland! Joe recently launched his new creative consulting company—and you can read more via his Comics Beat interview.

UPCOMING COMIC CONS & SIGNINGS!

Here are the upcoming shows and appearances. But I’ll leave with this: Stay strong.

CreARTe Expo 2025 (SEPT 19-21)

Crate Expo promo image of henry barajas

Back in late 2019, I had 24 events planned in 2020 to promote the release of La Voz De M.A.Y.O. Tata Rambo with J. Gonzo. We were going to go all around the world and have our victory lap. But that all came crashing down when the global pandemic happened. Granted, many people died. Business shuttered. So, it could’ve been worse. But one of those shows was creARTe Expo. Finally, after five long years, we’re going to Brownsville to celebrate Latino culture. There will be a lot of awesome folks there and some I’m even friends with. Click here for more information. The best part is IT’S FREE TO ATTEND!

New York Comic Con 2025 (OCT 19-12)

Yes, New York Comic Con. Hands down, NYCC has the best artist alley in the country, maybe even the world. I haven’t been there since 2021, so it will be good to be back with Rachel. It’s her first time tabling, so come down and be nice to us. We will have Ryan Cecil Smith riso prints, Death to Pachuco #1s, and war stories. That’s right! War stories! The kinds of war stories with the thousand-yard stare that makes you regret bringing up whatever it is that you brought up to induce the traumatic memories. Anyway, see you there!
