Psychoanalysis in the Malazan Empire
Almost a decade ago, I started a doctoral program in (clinical) social work. The first class in the program was called The History of Psychological Theory, and the first text we read in that class was Freud's Introductory Lectures to Psychoanalysis. The professor who taught the class was the first professor I had who took psychoanalysis seriously, who unabashedly stated that Freud was on to something, and his enthusiasm for the psychoanalytic cause was contagious. I know this because I caught his enthusiasm.
When you get interested in psychoanalysis the way I am, you see what psychoanalysis makes you more aware of everywhere.
