Asking your support for Kunal Botla for Planning Board

Friends of Kunal Botla for Lexington

Dear Friends, Happy New Year!

Thank you for your support of Lexington’s MBTA service. In August 2025, the MBTA began operating increased service on routes 62 and 76. Lexington now has Sunday service (not offered since the early ‘70s) and service higher than pre-pandemic levels on both routes. This could not have been possible without your advocacy and support.

In this town election, I’m running for a seat on Lexington’s Planning Board on March 2, 2026. I’m running to bring my architectural, transportation, and urban planning knowledge into Lexington’s zoning.

As a Town Meeting Member, chair of the Transportation Advisory Committee, and student of architecture, planning, and policy, I’ve seen first hand the importance and impact of zoning policy in Lexington and elsewhere. I’ve also regularly attended Planning Board meetings and led transportation input to reduce traffic impacts from multi-family projects. This input resulted in agreements to install bus shelters, fund a shared Alewife shuttle, and contribute to the town transportation fund.

I’m writing to ask for your support. Please visit votekunal.com for more information!

Lexington’s unique, historical character requires a thoughtful approach to balance new development with preservation. This approach requires more tailored regulation than simple state defaults, and should be specific to Lexington’s unique needs. Form-based regulation and methods to encourage smaller, more affordable homes, will create a desirable diversity of housing types.

I will be an advocate for simple, clear language and visuals that ensure transparency and clear communication with the community. Collaborating with my colleagues on the board, other town committees, and residents, I will work to create a plan for Lexington’s future that brings businesses into town to balance the tax base, and minimize residential tax increases, while protecting our environment.

Please reach out to me if you would like to chat. I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you,
Kunal Botla
