Kuhanten Games Newsletter August 2026
Hello everyone!
First, a big thank you to everyone who has subscribed since the July newsletter!
Last week marked my first week working on the game full-time now that summer break is over and I’m not full-time parenting. This has let me do some faster prototyping to answer the questions “What even is the game I’m making? What part is fun?”
I shared before that I’m building an incremental game inspired by Cookie Clicker and Unfair Flips. The gimmick I have in mind is applying the “ruthless probability” of Unfair Flips to another game of chance: Rock, Paper, Scissors. My working prototype title is “Project RPS", although iterating through my prototypes will crystalize if that’s the right angle to actually make something fun.
Regardless of where I land, I wanted to put out my first draft of a development timeline. This is half to inform all of you, and half to hold myself accountable.

I’m sweating just putting this in the newsletter since now you-all will have expectations, but I’m amusingly looking forward to future newsletters where you can see me draw red lines through the dates while saying “What was I thinking?” It’s intentionally pretty aggressive to keep myself in line, which is something that really helps me self-motivate.
What’s new since the last newsletter:
Read about the math of incremental games to help figure out balance and progression.
Discovered my new favorite hobby: trying out different free fonts in my game. (This is surprisingly very satisfying).
Created main menu, credits, and main game scene (sorry, no screenshots yet), with navigation between them.
And lastly, some beautiful drawings of rocks in digital-art and pixel-art styles:

That’s all for this newsletter on the last day of August!
