When the sky turned orange—and a story sparked to life

Hi
Have you ever had to evacuate due to a wildfire? This past summer, my family and I came disturbingly close. The Talache fire we’d been nervously watching for about ten days was only a mile away. We were moved from the “Ready” status to “Set” and told to be ready to “Go” at a moment’s notice. We got serious thinking about just how we’d do that. After all, my elderly parents live with my husband and me, plus three dogs, so it’s not like we could just jump in the car.
Thankfully, the evacuation order never arrived. Let me tell you, we all heaved a big sigh of relief. But those moments of fear, anxiety and apprehension still lingered for quite awhile. That experience, and those feelings, are what inspired the plot for Embers of Courage, Book four in the Ragin’ Moon Refuge series. Delaney’s journey begins with the same question I felt staring at the smoky horizon: what do we hold onto when life forces us to let go?
Today, I’m thrilled to share the cover reveal for Embers of Courage!

The release date is scheduled for May 1. But … great news! It’s available for pre-order now, on all platforms, for just $2.99 as a thank you to my early readers and loyal subscribers. Reserve your copy today!
If you haven’t yet started the Ragin’ Moon Refuge series, now’s a perfect time to dive in—Book one, A Gamble of the Heart is FREE on all platforms. It’s where this journey of love, healing, and second chances began. Start the series today.
I don’t have a specific author recommendation for you this month, but I’ll tell you what I’ve been reading: Long Way Gone by Charles Martin. It’s described as a radical retelling of the prodigal son, and I found it intriguing, original, and touching.
See you in February! (Wasn’t it just December? 😀)
Stay warm and safe,
K.T.
