Remote-Access Thyroidectomy and Parathyroidectomy - 2025 International Consensus Statement
New in THYROID
Remote-access thyroid and parathyroid surgery has been performed for over 20 years. Four approaches are now in regular use worldwide. Until now, there was no international consensus on who should be operated on, how surgeons should be trained, or what outcomes to expect.
Russell, Tae, and colleagues - representing six major societies across four continents - have changed that.
In this episode: 23 consensus statements covering patient selection thresholds, training requirements, approach-specific profiles, and outcomes. We walk through the key frameworks, the most important patient selection cutoffs, and why the panel explicitly rejected the phrase "minimally invasive" for these procedures.
