💨💨Fan/AC Directly Blowing At You

Hi Everyone,

Summer is coming 🥵 and surely we will once again be opening our electric fans and air conditioners — but wait, are your parents telling you not to???

Today’s Debunk: Fan Or Air Conditioner Directly Blowing At You 💨💨

TL;DR Having a fan or AC directly blowing at you doesn't cause serious illnesses. The main issue is dryness, but as long as you don’t overdo it, you'll be okay.

Fan Or Air Conditioner Directly Blowing At You: Is It Bad?

Myth: Fan/AC directly blowing at you leads to illnesses or death

You may have heard people say that having a fan or AC directly blow at you will lead to serious illnesses or death. Some people would suggest not having the fan blow too close to you or not leaving it turned on overnight while you sleep. However, these are myths and untrue!

The harm of directly blowing a fan/AC at your face

The number one harm is dryness. Fans can dry out your eyes, nose, and mouth because of the circulating air and direct airflow contact. An AC is even worse because it functions in a way that removes heat and moisture from the air. Both a fan and AC can cause dryness, which can lead to other common symptoms, such as a headache, dry eyes, runny nose, and sore throat.

Another harm is allergies. This happens if you fail to keep the room, fan blades, and AC filter clean. Both a fan and AC blow and circulate air in the room, so if there are dust and microbial allergens around, it may trigger your allergies.

Should I still use a fan/AC?

Of course, you should use a fan or AC when you feel hot. It might cause dryness but so does going outside on a windy day 🤣. Also, during very hot summer days, it’s almost impossible to fall asleep in such high temperatures unless you turn on the fan or AC.

Just use common sense and don’t let the fan or AC blow right into your face for too long because that will cause major dryness. Also, clean your appliances and room regularly, then you should be fine!
